MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning Features Next-Gen AIO Cooler, Huge LCD, & Monster 1600W PCB, Co-Developed With NVIDIA For Extreme Power & Clocks

The MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning graphics card has been launched, featuring next-gen AIO & up to 1600W of power.

MSI’s GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning GPU Co-Developed With NVIDIA, Offers Up To 1600W Power, Extreme Clocks & Cooled By Next Gen AIO

If there’s one graphics card that’s in the spotlight at CES 2026, it’s the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning. We’ve taken a look at the graphics card PCB, and overclockers have broken some extreme records by hitting the fastest RTX 5090 frequency at 3.75 GHz.

Now, for the first time we’re taking a look at the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning graphics card with its official and final retail cooler. The Lightning Z models OCER shipped to overclockers were equipped with non-retail heatsinks, which weren’t even a final design or capable enough to handle the extreme power the 5090 Lightning had to offer.

Developed in conjunction with NVIDIA, this top-of-the-line flagship graphics card is designed for unmatched performance and rock-solid stability, even at extreme power and clock speeds. MSI’s breakthrough dual connector design delivers up to 1600W to a reinforced high-power PCB and premium VRM, unlocking incredible compute density and overclocking headroom.

To support this load, a proprietary next-generation liquid cooling architecture employs a full-contact cold plate integrated beneath the block, expanding coverage across the GPU, memory, and all high-power stages. The next-generation pump optimizes flow dynamics, feeding MSI’s patented hybrid density radiator with zoned fin spacing for superior heat exchange. Silent high-pressure axial fan with newly designed aerodynamic blades further increases static pressure at low noise. The world’s first full-surface display enables real-time system visualization and personalization, while a dedicated mobile app lets users monitor and adjust overclocking presets on the go. Together, this power delivery and thermal design deliver sustained performance that exceeds RTX 5090-class expectations.

For the GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning, MSI offers a next-generation AIO cooling solution, enabling a compact design. The case itself features a large, customizable LCD (MSI calls it the world’s first full-surface display), and the card adopts the iconic black and yellow color scheme the “Lightning” series is known for. This shroud houses the AIO pump, and according to MSI, the new liquid cooling system features a fully integrated, full-contact cold plate that covers the GPU, memory, and all high-power stages.

The next generation AIO pump offers optimized flow dynamics and feeds a hybrid density radiator that packs zoned fin spacing for higher heat dissipation. This GPU also features a quiet yet high-pressure axial fan design with new aerodynamic blades that increase static pressure while maintaining lower operational noise levels.

According to MSI, the GeForce RTX 5090 Lightning has been co-developed with NVIDIA, which means they have the green light to offer a flagship RTX 5090 graphics card with a top-tier PCB packing 40 VRM phases. The card is officially rated to support a TDP of up to 1600W, while the XOC BIOS supports up to 2500W. The card has dual 16-pin connectors and will also come with extreme clock speeds we’ve never seen before.

MSI is expected to detail its RTX 5090 Lightning series graphics cards at CES in a few days, so stay tuned for more information.
