Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was surprised by rumors about Chinese authority who wanted to limit the sale of his GPU H20. Huang spoke with reporters in Taiwan as he landed on the island for a meeting with the TSMC executives. Huang shared that he hoped that the problem with the Chinese government would be resolved because the Chinese authority had asked him to work with the Trump government to secure life for the GPU H20.
I am grateful that the H20 license was approved, said Nvidia CEO when asked about 15% of the sales commission to the US government
In addition to discussing the upcoming Nvidia GPU Rubin, Huang also commented on rumors about GPU H20. When asked about them, he replied that he was “very grateful that Trump’s administration had agreed to a license for us to export H20 to China.” Huang then added that this new China “asked a few questions about some security backdoors in our chips.”
Responding to China’s concern, Huang stressed that we have “made it clear and resting that the H20 has no security backdoors. There is nothing like that. Never existed.” As a result, he hopes that “the response we have given to the Chinese government will be enough.”
Commenting on what seems to be a rumor of the Chinese government that limits the local adoption of the H20 chip, Huang shares:
“We are discussing with them, we are surprised by it, as you know they have asked and urged us to get a license for H20 for some time and I have worked hard enough to help them secure the license. And hopefully, hopefully, this will be completed.”
Nvidia’s CEO was then asked about what he had suggested to President Trump as part of his efforts to have sanctions raised in Nvidia products. Huang replied that while he did not give Trump any advice, he told the president “about the importance of American AI technology.” He asserted that we were in “the beginning of the new industrial revolution,” which means that “AI models and AI applications in supporting American technology piles are very important.”
The industrial revolution and the role of American products in it are the first thing Huang explained. He then explained to Trump that “AI will advance throughout the world with or without the United States. And it is important for us to maximize our AI export technology when this industry is being formed.”
As for his thinking about Nvidia, he had to pay 15% of the income of the sales of the China H20 GPU to the US government, Huang only “was very grateful that Trump’s government had approved a license for our Chinese customers.” AI’s request in China “is quite great,” He believes, which means that “The ability to send products to H20 to China is highly valued.”
“Delivery of H20 to China is not a national security problem. This is good for America and this is good for the Chinese market,” he added.
