Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake Could Launch in H1 2027, Insider Says

Rumors about a Resident Evil Veronica Code Remake has become much louder over the past month. To start things off, CAPCOM special leaker Dusk Golem revealed in mid-December that Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero will be next remake on schedule, with the former targeting a 2027 launch and the latter targeting a 2028 debut. A few days ago, he added that the games closest to release would be officially announced sometime in 2026.

But now, another well-known insider has confirmed the rumors and even added to them. Nate the AbominationPossible the most reliable insider this time (he also won ‘Best Leaker of the Year’ award in a community poll on Reddit’s GamingLeaksAndRumors), said in X:

Yes, Code Veronica is being remade and is currently in development. The target release is the first half of 2027.

This means we are probably only a year and a few months away from being able to play this game. So far, all three Resident Evil remakes have been successful, although 2 and 4 were more successful and critically acclaimed than 3. RE2 Remake now CAPCOM’s third best-selling game of all time with 16.30 million unitsbehind only Monster Hunter World and Rise, and the much newer RE4 Remake (which launched in March 2023) comes close 11.10 million units already sold. RE3 Remake, on the other hand, is a work in progress 10.60 million unitswhich is still not dirty.

In late 2023, CAPCOM confirmed that they were working on more remakes. Fans of the franchise have long been clamoring for a Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake, and for good reason: the original game was originally exclusive to SEGA’s final console, the Dreamcast. Of course, the game eventually launched on the PlayStation 2 and later on the GameCube, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, but by that time, the game was old and didn’t gain much traction.

For those who haven’t played it and are looking forward to this remake, this game takes place about three months after Resident Evil 2. The protagonist is Redfield’s siblingClaire and Chris, who are desperately trying to survive the virus outbreak on a remote prison island in the Southern Ocean And research facility in Antarctica.
