Official Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold With Unfolded 10-Inch LTPO OLED Screen, Only 3.9mm Thickness, Older Snapdragon 8 Elite, Titanium Hinge & More

The world’s second tri-fold smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, has finally come to fruition as Samsung unveiled what is perhaps its most ambitious product in the smartphone category. The company has provided extensive details about its flagship phone, like how it is built, specifications, and more, so let’s not waste any precious time and get straight to the details.

Design and appearance

Samsung says the folding mechanism has been precisely designed to open and close the Galaxy Z TriFold, with the company perfecting the Armor FlexHinge. Now, there are two different sized hinges holding the device in place, both of which use a double rail structure to create a stable phone even though the triple folding phone varies in weight across its surface. The material used for the hinge is titanium, with a thin piece of metal protecting the folding mechanism, and is resistant to wear over time.

The Galaxy Z TriFold’s chassis is made from Advanced Armor Aluminum, which is a high-strength alloy that increases structural integrity without increasing its size or weight. There is also a ceramic-glass fiber-reinforced polymer back panel that keeps the design thin and crack-resistant. Given the complexity of the design, the Korean giant claims that each unit undergoes a series of stringent quality control checks to ensure it passes rigorous testing.

In terms of appearance, when fully opened, the Galaxy Z TriFold displays a 10-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,584 and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. The refresh rate ranges between 1Hz and 120Hz to save battery life. The main display covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color range, with the cover display using 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic LTPO AMOLED technology with a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 and peak brightness of 2,600 nits.

Just like the larger 10-inch panel, the smaller 6.5-inch screen also supports an adaptive refresh rate that has a range of 1-120Hz. At its thinnest point, the Galaxy Z TriFold measures 3.9 mm and weighs 309 grams. The Galaxy Z TriFold has IP48 dust and water resistance, with the screen cover protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.

Hardware specifications

Instead of the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Samsung opted for the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Galaxy, which is built on TSMC’s 3nm ‘N3E’ process. It’s possible the company opted for an older SoC to save on component costs, and we say this because there are only two variants of the Galaxy Z TriFold with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM paired with 512GB or 1TB internal storage. Unfortunately, storage expansion via microSD card is not possible.

Camera

There is a tough optical configuration on the Galaxy Z TriFold, starting with a 200MP main camera that has an F/1.7 aperture, followed by a 12MP ultrawide angle sensor with a FOV of 120 degrees. There’s also a third 10MP telephoto unit capable of capturing 3x lossless zoom and 30x digital zoom. The front side consists of one 10MP F/2.2 camera on the cover display, with another 10MP F/2.2 unit on the main screen, with a FOV of 100 degrees.

Battery

What keeps it going is a 5,600mAh battery, making it 600mAh larger than the capacity found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the highest capacity found in any Samsung foldable smartphone to date. This cell supports 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

Price, Color, & Availability

Samsung has mentioned that only one paint will be offered on the Galaxy Z TriFold, namely Crafted Black, hinting that the company will not have enough units in production or retail. According to previous reports, the triple-fold smartphone will be priced at $2,447, making it slightly more expensive than Apple’s iPhone Fold, which is expected to set consumers back $2,399.

The official launch of the Galaxy Z TriFold is scheduled for December 12 in Korea, followed by other regions including China, Taiwan, Singapore and the UAE. As for the US, 9to5Google reports that the device will be delayed in the country, but is scheduled to arrive in Q1 2026.
