The Chinese Room gained its independence from Digital Sumo

British developers Chinese rooms have received independence from Digital Sumo, reported IGN. As you might remember, Sumo Digital bought a development studio for almost seven years ago, in August 2018, with a secret number.

However, now, the Chinese room has been looking for independence because Digital Sumo has recently switched to the development model-for-peekh. In addition, Studio is worried that Sumo will sell it to several other companies. The team will be led by the current Director of Studio Ed Daly, who received financial assistance from Venture Capital Company Hiro Capital. This is a statement from Daly:

This management purchase allows us to scratch creative itching to continue working on new original intellectual property, but also to partner with other studios in other projects when they match our vision. This is what we do and we want to continue to do it, so we are happy to continue in this tone.

Spike Laurie, partner at Hiro Capital, added:

The China Room is a great British success story that has been recognized as a unique creative force that is able to compete on the world stage. From employing British people to making games in the UK, they have become one of our leading creative studios and now they are once again responsible for their own destiny while still being British. We risk ignoring this creative gem and let it be sold to foreign companies. It is a parody for the British game industry worth $ 5.5 billion which has a world famous reputation. We need to maintain this talent and support it through difficult times, because it is one of our leading creative exports.

The new Chinese room, which has just dismissed several employees, is working on two unnenary IPs. However, so far the most anticipated game is Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, which was taken by a studio from the hardsuit laboratory on behalf of the Paradox Interactive Publisher. Bloodlines 2 will now be launched in October 2025, and we hope to learn more about it next month at Gamescom.
