The firing sparked an ongoing legal dispute between Rockstar and The Independent Workers United Kingdom (IWGB)which caught the attention of the British parliament and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Now, the British lawmaker leading the investigation into Rockstar’s alleged union-busting has accused the company of obstructing the legal process through “silence and closed doors.“
According to Eurogamer, as the legal battle continues following a UK judge’s decision to deny sacked workers temporary pay, IWGB claims that Rockstar has “failing to cooperate with basic disclosure requests, refusing to provide complete evidence and investigative reports, and denying workers their right to appeal.“
Member of Parliament for the Scottish Labor Party Chris Murraywho is also the MP who took the case directly to Prime Minister Starmer, said, “From my first meetings with constituents impacted by Rockstar’s mass firing, I had concerns about both the handling of and the motivation behind this action. I made my concerns clear during Prime Minister’s Questions, which resulted in a ministerial inquiry initiated by the Prime Minister being underway. Constituents have lost jobs, income, and one constituent was even forced to leave the country due to the withdrawal of their visa sponsor,” in a press release.
“In recent meetings with constituents, they explained that Rockstar’s justification for their firing varied throughout this process. Rockstar must respond to this case with full transparency and cooperation and uphold the right to appeal.”
Labor MP for Edinburgh North and Leith Tracy Gilbert also added “Every worker deserves a fair appeals process and to have their voice heard. It is disappointing that Rockstar refused to properly engage with staff, representatives and unions throughout this process. Workers ask for fairness, transparency and respect must not be met with silence and closed doors, especially when livelihoods and workplace rights are at stake.“
MP Edinburgh South West, Dr. Scott Arthur added, “When I visited Rockstar late last year with fellow MPs, my discussions with senior management emphasized their responsibility to treat staff openly, fairly and transparently. Based on what my constituents said, it appears that these principles are not consistently enforced in practice.“
“The UK government is overseeing the biggest expansion of workers’ rights in a generation, and as Members of Parliament we have a duty to challenge unfair employment practices and unfair dismissal. Therefore, Rockstar must cooperate fully and transparently with any investigation into allegations of union busting and ensure that both terminated and current employees are treated fairly and with respect.“
President of the IWGB Association Alex Marshall called Rockstar’s behavior over the last six months”corporate legal obstacles,” alleging that Rockstar avoided face-to-face meetings or transparency of proper dismissal evidence only further strengthens their belief that the firing of the 34 workers was a direct form of union dissolution.
“They acted as if they had impunity, and showed no respect for UK trade union law. Our multiple requests for cooperation, whether proposing a face-to-face meeting or asking for complete evidence behind the firing, were met with radio silence. When Rockstar responded, it did so with shifting and constantly conflicting narrativesMarshall said.
“Our members at Rockstar prove that no matter the size, profits, or prestige of a studio, when its workers unite, we have the power to hold them accountable. Through relentless protest, press, and legal action, our members have brought the world’s attention to the fraudulent practices of these multi-national studios, and sent a message to rogue game executives that workers are unionizing en masse and ready to fight back.“

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
