A special 5G modem may not debut on all Apple 17 iPhone 17 models, but the company is still reported to carry in-house wireless solutions in the form of Wi-Fi 7 chips that will provide a very high downlink and uplink speed while giving an extraordinary control company on hardware and software. An analyst has doubled the previous prediction, with the C1 modem found on the iPhone 16e is only the beginning of Apple’s wireless ambitions planted at home.

iPhone 17 Air can be Apple’s first release to display a special Wi-Fi 7 modem and C1 5G modem

GF Securities analyst Jeff PU once again wrote a research record seen by Macrumors, mentioning the arrival of the Wi-Fi 7 Chip Special Apple, which will be displayed in all iPhone 17 models. Only the iPhone 17 is expected to be sent with the same 5G C1 modem that debuted on the iPhone 16e, along with a wireless chip that was not named. With this transition, Apple will eventually eliminate its dependence on Broadcom, although it is reported that the technological giant license agreement for the 5G modem with Qualcomm will end in 2027.

Analysts have not provided specifications of the Wi-Fi 7 custom chip, even though we will not be surprised to hear whether it is performing equivalent or better than the one in the iPhone 16 company today. The research notes also did not determine why Apple did not intend to bring the 5G C1 modem to all iPhone 17 models, but it could be related to the baseband chip that did not have MMWAVE wave support. This will be seen as a ‘step down’ approach, especially when the iPhone 16 model featuring the MMWave network support Snapdragon X71.
