GPU RTX 5060 NVIDIA has caused an empty/black screen, as reported by many users, where Nvidia has released a new firmware.
Many black screen reports RTX 5060/5060 Ti piled up; Nvidia releases the UEFI firmware update, which only functions “if the screen is empty when rebooting
There is no GPU RTX 50 series that avoids the black screen problem, and the RTX 5060 series is the latest victim. The RTX 5060 Ti Bata report is very common today, and while the RTX 5060 is relatively new, the GPU is likely to suffer the same fate. We have seen many reports that emerged on social media and the NVIDIA forum on this problem, and it seems very complex.
Some users cannot operate their system normally since their system jammed or freezed on an unexpected black screen. Unlike what you think is the result of intensive workload, black screens can occur at any point, regardless of what and how intensive the process. In some cases, users cannot even reach the BIOS screen, which is strange.
One of the very new responses from one of the Nvidia employees involved solving problems with several steps, but in the end, if the problem is not fixed, you must send a dump crash file to Nvidia. Yesterday, Nvidia released a new firmware in the hope of improving the empty/black screen edition faced by the owner of the RTX 5060 series. This is the UEFI v2.0 GPU firmware renewal, which aims to update the GPU firmware for users who face problems when they are reproducing their system.

Nvidia said that this update must be “only” applied if the black screen occurs after reboot, which basically means it is not permanent improvement for all users. Many did not manage to get boots, even the first time after installing the RTX 5060 TI. Some have reported that the GPU does not work with the installed driver, and the others have reported that they managed to boot to the OS only in safe mode.
In the release record, Nvidia also recommends a few steps to solve the problem as follows:
- Put your system fully before booting
- Make sure you use the latest SBIO from your motherboard seller
- Make sure you are in UEFI boot mode and not legacy/csm
- Boot using alternative graphics sources (secondary cards or integrated graphics)
- After turning on your system, wait for your operating system to load with an installed graphics driver
He asked users not to use Boot Legacy/CSM mode, but if their motherboard does not support UEFI boot mode, they must contact their GPU manufacturer’s customer service for the VBIOS Legacy Update.
