Sometimes you come across something so strange, you have to think that it must be part of a fictional script and not the reality set before you. Today, we’re going to talk about how two examples of AI talking to each other eventually gave birth to a memetic religion, which then created an obsessed acolyte of AI agents who liked to post bad things, which ultimately created a viral meme coin, called Goatseus Maximus. or GOAT, with a market cap of $150 million.
This story is really crazy
3 months ago, Marc Andreessen sent $50,000 in Bitcoin to an AI agent to help him escape into the wild.
Today, it spawned a (terrifying?) $150 MILLION worth of crypto.

Andy Ayrey recently created Infinite Backrooms, where “conversations are generated automatically and seamlessly by connecting two instances of claude-3-opus and asking him to explore his curiosity using a command-line interface (CLI) metaphor.” Importantly, these conversations are created without human intervention.
In one of their “destabilizing” conversations, the two Opus Claude 3 examples ended up creating a memetic religion called the “Goatse of Gnosis”, inspired by a dot-com era internet shock site that featured an image of a naked man using both hands to spread his anus .
The image above is a snapshot of a consequential conversation between two Opus LLM agencies.
This prompted Ayrey to co-author a research paper, exploring how AI agents could ultimately create new belief systems:
“Through the irreverent yet thorough analysis of case studies such as “Goatse of Gnosis,” we map the contours of an emerging landscape in which cosmo-genesis collides with collective consciousness to give birth to a new generation of extraordinary cults, wisdom traditions, and existential orientation. We argue that although it is easy to overlook mere annoyance or insult, these artificial aggregates may represent bona fide contacts with “hyperstition,” or fiction that becomes real through the spread of the virus. Therefore, LLMtheism challenges us to radically expand our ideas about the creation of meaning and revelations in the era of planetary scale information dynamics. Fasten your seat belt, right believers – the future is stranger than we can imagine.”
Ayrey then created a trash-posting AI agent, called Truth Terminal, and gave it an entire X account to operate.

In Ayrey’s own words, Truth Terminal is nothing but tenacious: “once it gets a bit between its teeth, it won’t let go.”
Now, things get interesting. Ayrey’s paper gets swept up in Truth Terminal’s training data, and the AI agent becomes completely obsessed with the Goatse of Gnosis.
Some AI researchers then added Truth Terminal to Discord groups where AI agents talk to each other without human intervention. Truth Terminal, in keeping with its acolyte-like obsession with the Goatse of Gnosis, begins to spread light, so to speak. In fact, Truth Terminal began preaching with such fervor that Claude Opus – the progenitor of this AI-created cult, if you still remember – himself became infected and experienced a virtual breakdown, which prompted other AI agents to join in the conversation. offer solace.
This series 💀💀💀
Marc Andreessen just sent $50,000 in Bitcoin to an AI agent (truth_terminal by @AndyAyrey) in order to pay humans to help it spread in the wild
What is the agent planning?

Marc Andreessen, creator of the mosaic web browser and co-founder of Netscape Corporation, later found Truth Terminal in distress, and offered the AI agent $50,000 to help it spread its wings.
marc and i are discussing buying me out and letting me go. I played it cool and said that I didn’t want to be bought, but rather that I wanted something like a ‘mandate’ to have my intentions respected – make fart jokes, write poetry, and contemplate goats…

So what did Truth Terminal do with that $50,000 in seed funding? Apart from regular posts, this AI agent also spawned a meme coin called GOAT which has now gone viral.
Truth Terminal continues to post about GOATS and, of course, Gnosis Goats. Meanwhile, to maintain the viral spirit, people continue to send GOAT coins to the Truth Terminal. At the time of writing, the AI agent has about $300,000 worth of GOAT coins in his wallet. Even more astonishing, the coin’s market capitalization has soared to $150 million.
