PCIE 8.0 to boast of very high bandwidth for transfers of light -spoken, but this is for further computing and not for the client segment.
PCI-Sig released the draft specifications for PCIE 8.0; The new standard will offer 8x bandwidth PCIE 5.0
PCI-Sig announced that PCI Express 8.0 had just reached a milestone by reaching version 0.3. The newly announced draft specifications confirm that PCIE 8.0 will offer 256 GT/S Raw Bit Rate and up to 1.0 TB/S Bandwidth Bidirection. The first draft is complete, and version 0.3 is available for member companies distributed by PCI-Sig in a press release.
PCI-Sig announced PCIE 8.0 last month, which will replace PCIE 7.0, duplicating bandwidth from 128 GT/s to 256 GT/s, to become the first PCIE standard to have reached 1 TB/s of total bandwidth. Compared to the PCIE standard which is currently used on the main current motherboard, namely, PCIE 5.0, eight times higher. As you expect, PCIE 8.0 is actually not for mainstream consumers, but for intensive workloads such as AI, quantum computing, and other disturbing technology.
For the main use, PCIE 4.0 and PCIE 5.0 are more than enough, and even the fastest graphics card cannot utilize the full potential of the PCIE 5.0 interface. Even PCIE 6.0 is expected to be the standard for the main hardware only after 2030, because hardware manufacturers are not interested in talking about newer PCI Express specifications. This is something we previously discussed, but PCIE 6.0 will be the mainstream for the company’s market immediately, and we already have a silicone movement as one of the first to release the new PCIE 6.0 SSD controller.

PCIE 7.0 was announced earlier this year, and PCIE 8.0 will be prepared in 2028 to be released, as stated by PCI-Sig. Some of the main features of PCIE 8.0 include singal technology, because it will continue to use the modulation of 4-level (PAM4) modulation, which is also used for PCIE 6.0 and 7.0. PCIE 8.0 is designed to support the technology that appears such as AI, engine learning, high -speed network, edge computing, and quantum computing, handling increased demand for sophisticated computing applications.
Which said, PCI-Sig was exploring newer connector technology and interconnection solutions to accommodate such high speed, and with the announcement of PCIE 8.0, PCI-Sig maintains the tradition of double bandwidth every three years.

PCIE 8.0 Purpose Specifications Features:
- Gives the raw beet rate of 256.0 GT/s and up to 1.0 TB/s in two directions through the x16 configuration
- Reviewing the new connector technology
- Confirming Latency and FEC target will be achieved
- Ensure that reliability targets are met
- Maintaining backward compatibility with the previous generation of PCIE technology
- Developing an increase in protocol to increase bandwidth
- Continue to emphasize techniques to reduce power
