So far this week, we’ve heard rumors about something new Game State event set for next week, on April 16, 2026, and we have heard that is coming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remakeofficially titled ‘Resynced,’ will be fully revealed next week, on the same date. Now, a third rumor has entered the conversation, this time claiming just that 4A game will reveal New Metro game next week.

When the post was shared on ResetEra, NateTheHate commented on it claiming that the post was indeed true “CORRECT.“
Last year, in March 2025, we actually got confirmation from 4A Games that they are indeed working on a new Metro game. The statement explains the split between the core studio 4A Games and the team creating the spin-off Chimera, writing studio,”We are still creating the next Metro with Dmitry Glukhovsky, the same core founder, chairman, developer and nearly 20 years of experience in the series. We are also working on other new IP projects. We’ll reveal more about both when we’re ready.“
That same month, the studio spoke more about the upcoming game and the development difficulties faced due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It is also confirmed that the invasion has affected the development of the new game, and that it will be “even darker” story, if you believe that the Metro series could get darker than before.
“In 2022, a massive Russian invasion changed the way we tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew on that life experience to create a darker story, the themes already present in Metro became increasingly clear and important. As conflict, power struggles, the horrors of tyranny, and the price of freedom have been part of our lives for the past 3+ years, we are still living and working during this time of war, and it inevitably shapes the games we make.“
So we know that 4A Games has been working on something for a few years, and technically it’s possible that they’re ready to introduce the new game to the world any day. It’s also worth noting that 4A Games made the original Metro title free, and had big sales for its other games as part of its celebration of the series. 15th anniversary last year. It would be great if 4A could follow up that anniversary with the next chapter for the series a year later.
Add to that two other rumors this week, all backed by insiders who have proven reliable in the past, and it looks like next week is shaping up to be a big week for the industry.
Unfortunately, we won’t know whether that will happen until Tuesday or even Wednesday next week. Sony has long stopped short of announcing State of Play or Showcase events days in advance, opting instead to announce them the day before or at most two days before. If something happens on Thursday next week, we will know about it on Wednesday at the latest.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm.
