To be or not to be. Over the past few weeks and months, in what can only be described as a chronic case of myopia, tech enthusiasts have approached the contentious debate surrounding the camera specs and battery size of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra with a gravity that matches – or perhaps even surpasses – that hinted at in this famous Shakespearean soliloquy.
But now, Samsung’s official promo materials for its upcoming ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event have officially ended the lingering uncertainty on both counts.
Ice Universe, Schrödinger and @SPYGO19726 have been having an ugly fight – more like a mud party – over the past few weeks and months, centered on one ‘important’ question: whether the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a 10MP or 12MP telephoto lens. At the same time, questions continue to arise regarding whether the upcoming flagship phone will have a 5,000mAh or 5,200mAh battery.
Well, now Samsung’s official promo material for next week’s ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event has settled the debate regarding these two things.
Thus, we can now conclude for sure that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will have the following camera setup:
- 12MP selfie camera
- 10MP 3x telephoto camera
- 200MP main camera
- 50MP ultra-wide sensor
- 50MP 5x periscope camera
Additionally, the upcoming flagship phone will have a 5,000 mAh battery, negating previous reports that suggested a slight increase in battery energy density.
Elsewhere, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature a number of color options, including Cobalt Violet, Black Shadow, White Shadow and the stunning Galactic Blue. Note that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to debut with rounded edges, a dedicated camera island featuring a triple camera setup, an all-black color option (including the frame), and a USB-C port.
Additionally, despite previously being rumored, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is now not expected to use the Qi2’s built-in magnets, which would open up a whole ecosystem of MagSafe accessories.
Meanwhile, as the sole highlight of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung is bringing Flex Magic Pixel OLED technology to the upcoming flagship phone, enabling what is now being dubbed ‘Privacy Display’. Basically, this technology will leverage AI to dim viewing angles without affecting screen brightness for a live viewing experience. This will prevent anyone from peeking at your smartphone related activities from side corners.
Lastly, as we noted earlier today, Samsung intends to further improve the performance of the camera system in the Galaxy S26 series by implementing a new noise reduction algorithm, which will produce incredibly sharp images in high resolution.
