Intel’s Panther Lake ‘XE3’ Graphic Platform Watching game performance up to 18% higher, owned by several optimizations

Intel is preparing the launch of the next generation of Lake Panther and has released a series of new Linux -based optimizations that have improved game performance.

PTL Mobile Skus next generation is expected to debut in the coming months, and it will mark the first 18A chip of the company. And, with its appearance, it seems that Intel is working on optimization to ensure a smooth launch of the platform. In a report by PHORONIX, it was revealed that the Intel Linux Team had sent 14 different Mesa patches that had been combined with 3D graphics drivers for the upcoming XE3 GPU platform. Based on the initial testing, it was revealed that the patch alone had carried up to 18% of the performance improvement, which was a large number.

This series discusses a number of performance problems related to compilers that will affect the XE3 platform and cause performance that is less than ideal in most of the GPU workload.

Interestingly, the patch focuses on “Scheduling and Parallelism Optimization of Utas” to ensure that the XE3 graphics compiler works best when the platform is launched in Q4. According to internal testing, Intel succeeded in bringing encouragement to game titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy, but performance improvement did come with tradeoff in the form of higher pre-compilation shader workloads, but Intel saw an increase in compilation time as a proper trade to improve performance.

While optimization seems promising, Intel’s Panther Lake Skus reportedly still experiences ‘GPU Hang’ problems, which shows that there is still a lot of work to do. However, based on what we know about the ranks of Lake Panther, it is proven that XE3 will bring an increase in a decent generation, especially with architectural changes. In addition, we will see Node 18A Intel in action for the first time with PTL, which is another big achievement for the Blue team as well.
