Konami Aims to Release a New Silent Hill Game in 2026, and in 2027, 2028, 2029, etc., “To Keep the Crowd Around Silent Hill Constant”

Before Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 Remake is released in 2024, the latest Silent Hill the game was technically a PT in 2014, a well-known teaser that never became a full project. Previously there was Silent Hill: Book of Memories on PS Vita. Whether you count PT or not, there’s still at least a decade between releases. Now, after Silent Hill 2 Remake in 2024, and now Silent Hill f in 2025, we have two Silent Hill games in two years, and according to Konamithe company wants to maintain that pace if it can.

In an interview with Famitsu (via machine translation), producer Motoi Okamoto said the company was targeting “to release about one [Silent Hill] titles per year, including announced and unannounced titles,” turned the long-dormant horror series into an annual franchise.

Now, Okamoto does not call this goal a new mandate for the company and its franchises. It seems he doesn’t want Konami to have a Call of Duty style development path to ensure that they can release new games every year. But he described it as a goal the company wants to achieve, in an effort to “keeping the buzz around Silent Hill constant.”

After the release of Silent Hill 2 in October 2024, we can present Silent Hill f in September 2025, and the Silent Hill series is now back on track. We aim to release approximately one title per year, including announced and unannounced titles. We’re not sure how far we can get, but we’ll do our best as producers of the Silent Hill series. Ideally, we want to keep the buzz around Silent Hill constant.”

Could Konami set up its own production line to make its horror franchise an annual series? Of course, I can; it’s obviously a pretty big company, and could easily spend money on building a development team internally and contracting other studios to make new games in the franchise every year.

There’s even theoretically still two years to go to get that route ready, with Bloober Team already working on a remake of the first Silent Hill game, which could be coming in 2027, and Silent Hill: Townfall coming in 2026.

Is that what he was supposed to do with this series? That’s a different question with a different and more complex answer. Trying to release new games in the series before they are ready could be a trap for Konami to tie itself in knots and hang the series. A glance at any game franchise with annual releases, such as EA Sports titles and Call of Duty, shows that you’re unlikely to be able to maintain the level of quality we’ve seen, even with the previous two titles, year after year.

Guard “rumors,” as Okamoto describes it, around the series, a constant factor has arguably been the impediment of trying to release a new game every year. Mainly because the quality of the releases declines, as might happen with a new release every year. If Bloober Team is able to release a remake of the first game in 2027, and Townfall is rumored to be released in 2026, then we’ll see where Konami stands in 2027 with making what Okamoto describes as a dream come true.
