Apple Vision Pro App Development Progress Is Poor, With New Survey Revealing That Only 3 Percent of Developers Are Creating Entirely New Programs For It

The success of any operating system is determined by its extensive app library, and with the launch of the Apple Vision Pro earlier this year, you can be sure that it will take a while to grow its repository. However, developers also need to show initiative for visionOS, but according to a recent survey, this is not happening as only 3 percent of them are creating completely new applications for the platform. These statistics show that these people most likely do not find the platform worthy enough of their efforts.

From the survey, 35 percent of developers do not intend to create any applications for the Apple Vision Pro

Setapp’s latest annual developer survey revealed that 50 percent of developers are unsure about Apple Vision Pro support. With less than 500,000 units shipped this year, we can’t blame them, as the tech giant’s first, and might we add, expensive headset failed to catch on with the public. Additional details from the survey discovered by AppleInsider revealed that 35 percent of developers had no plans to create apps for the platform at all.

Instead, these developers are focused on AI, with 60 percent of developers stating that they are actively working on this category, or have already implemented features. In short, the Apple Vision Pro not only failed to generate healthy sales momentum among customers, but a number of developers wanted to invest their time, energy, resources in creating apps for the headset. These setbacks and more are likely the reason why production of the Apple Vision Pro will reportedly cease at the end of 2024.

CEO Tim Cook previously tried to justify poor sales of the Apple Vision Pro, stating that the device was aimed at those who want to experience today’s future technology, but he also failed to mention that those customers would also need to have $3,499 in cash for it. they don’t know what to do. The lack of interest shown by developers may also be the reason why production of the low-cost Apple Vision Pro is being delayed beyond 2027, as there are no compelling use cases yet for this mixed reality headset.

With the official release of visionOS 2.2, bringing useful productivity features like ultrawide support, Apple Vision Pro needs more additions like this so developers feel compelled to deliver apps that take advantage of this mode. Hopefully, adoption will increase in the coming months, and we’ll have more updates ready for you, so stay tuned.
