NVIDIA has managed to expand its influence in Big Tech circles with its latest partnership, as the company collaborates with Meta, an entity also known for its leanings towards AMD.
With the greatest development in AI, companies like Meta are in dire need of computing power, which is why it makes sense for them to forge strategic partnerships with companies like AMD and NVIDIA. In their latest move, NVIDIA has launched a “multi-year, multi-generation strategic partnership” with Meta, which will enable extensive adoption of “millions” of Blackwell and Rubin AI chips and, interestingly, will also give the AI giant access to its standalone Grace and Vera generation CPUs. It seems that with this collaboration, Meta will go ‘all-in’ on Team Green’s hardware stack.
We are excited to expand our partnership with NVIDIA to build a leading-edge cluster using their Vera Rubin platform to deliver super-personal intelligence to everyone in the world.
– Mark Zuckerberg
Before we dive into the specifics of this deal, let’s take a look at how the Meta-AMD partnership is progressing. Meta is one of AMD’s largest AI customers, accounting for more than 40% of total revenue last year. More specifically, Meta is also a major user of AI Instinct MI300X server racks, indicating that the company has demonstrated a deep commitment to Team Red’s infrastructure. Interestingly, AMD has also designed the Helios shelf based on the ORW Meta specs, but considering the recent MI455X delay rumors, it will be interesting to see how Helios will fare for the Meta.
NVIDIA’s collaboration with Meta is not limited to computing; it also enables AI integration with services such as WhatsApp through the “Confidential Computing” initiative. Meta has also adopted NVIDIA’s Spectrum-X Ethernet networking infrastructure for increased access, and if you’ve guessed by now, the Meta collaboration is an extensive integration of NVIDIA’s computing and AI services.
- Implementation of NVIDIA GPUs (Blackwell, Blackwell Ultra & Rubin)
- NVIDIA CPU special offer (Grace & Vera)
- Spectrum-X Ethernet integration
- NVIDIA Confidential Computing for WhatsApp
The Meta partnership doesn’t go into much detail regarding financials, but it appears the multi-generation agreement could stretch significantly into next year, making Meta one of Team Green’s biggest customers, alongside Microsoft and OpenAI.
