SK hynix’s 256 GB DDR5 RDIMM memory completed successful certification on Intel Xeon 6 server CPUs, an industry first.
256 GB DDR5 RDIMM Memory Based on 32Gb “5th Gen 10nm” Technology Now Fully Certified on Intel Xeon 6 CPUs
Although memory shortages and supply constraints continue to grip the consumer segment, the AI segment remains the top choice for memory manufacturers as demonstrated by SK hynix, which has succeeded in becoming the first memory maker to certify a high-density 256 GB DDR5 RDIMM solution on the Intel Xeon 6 server CPU platform.
This announcement comes a year after the launch of a 128 GB memory solution based on 32 Gb, which was validated in January 2025. According to Hynix, the new memory solution offers 16% higher inference speeds and also provides 18% power savings compared to the previous 256 Gb product based on 16 Gb 1a DRAM. Press Release: SK hynix today announced that it has become the first in the industry to complete the Intel Data Center Certified process to deploy 256GB DDR5 RDIMMs—high-capacity server modules based on 32Gb fifth generation 10nm (1b) class DRAM—to the Intel Xeon 6 platform.
As an Intel Data Center Certified system/platform, the 256GB DDR5 RDIMM has completed extensive testing and rigorous validation by Intel’s Advanced Data Center Development Laboratory, and is now the industry’s first server module verified to deliver reliable performance, compatibility and quality when combined with Intel Xeon processors. SK hynix had previously obtained similar validation in January this year for a 256GB product based on its fourth generation 10nm class (1a) 16GB die.
By being the first in the industry to validate compatibility with Intel’s latest server platforms, SK hynix demonstrated technology leadership in high-capacity DDR5 modules. Based on this, the company will expand cooperation with global large data center operators and continue to lead the next generation memory market in response to the rapidly increasing demand from server customers.

As a creator of full-stack AI memory, we will actively address the growing demand for high-performance, low-power, high-capacity memory solutions to further increase customer satisfaction.” said Sangkwon Lee, head of DRAM Product Planning & Enablement at SK hynix.
In this new AI-driven infrastructure environment, memory has become a critical performance determinant. As AI inference models evolve beyond generating simple responses to performing complex logical processes, the volume of data that must be processed in real-time increases exponentially. To manage these enormous data sets quickly and reliably, high-capacity, high-performance memory has become indispensable—driving a sharp increase in market demand.

The company anticipates its newest product to be the ideal solution to meet this growing demand. Servers equipped with the new modules provide up to 16% higher inference performance compared to servers using 128GB products based on 32Gb die. In addition, by utilizing a 32Gb DRAM chip, this design produces up to around 18% lower power consumption compared to previous 256GB products based on 16Gb 1a DRAM. With this increased power efficiency and incredible performance per watt2the company expects strong interest from data center customers.
